Fear takes on many different forms, especially ones which we individually are tied to the most. This is like our own private demons, which exist to specifically torture us in ways that we alone are afraid of. Specific aversions and phobias to things which are based upon past life experience are sprinkled throughout the population in various quantities. However, the fear of untried experiences remains a pretty universal fear, though some innovative people consider it a challenge and stick with each experience long enough to have a good idea of what it can do for them should they continue with it.
Acted-upon fear is like placing a bet against yourself, with yourself. If you act or react to every sway that fear holds upon you, then you are like the proverbial chaff in the wind, being blown to and fro upon the face of the earth. You have no foundation, no spine, and no backing. This is an incredibly weak and dangerous place to be.
On the other hand, reacting to fear by shutting down and choosing to leave yourself open is just as dangerous. The author once knew a man who steadfastly and openly verbalized and acted upon his choice to never set personal boundaries. As a result, people who had access to his bank account began draining his funds, that he had earned and invested, and took advantage of him in every way. His reaction to this was that of a victim, acting as if they were the perpetrator, when he had not protected himself, and actively chose to never protect himself, against intrusions. Even now as this is happening, he continues his former choice to never set personal boundaries, and he is allowing himself to be further drained of his assets at this very moment.
Reaction to and aversion of fear both have very dire consequences. You can lose everything, including your life, if you choose to be swayed by every wind of fear or leave yourself open to allow others to choose what they would like to do with your life. Trust us, they will not be acting in your best interests. Call CMM Technology today for more information about drug and alcohol testing on your jobsite: (+61) 1300 79 70 30.
